Events Manager

Our Organization:
The National Golf Course Owners Association is the golf industry’s trade association, representing and serving the interests of thousands of golf course owners and operators around the United States.  We are governed by a volunteer board of directors and have a team of 15 employees at our national headquarters office on Daniel Island, South Carolina, with three additional remote employees around the country.  Learn more about us at www.ngcoa.org.  

The Position:
The Events Manager, an essential part of the NGCOA team, will oversee the planning and execution of NGCOA’s various conferences, sponsor events, board meetings and small staff events.


The primary responsibilities of this job involve the following:

  • Administer all required advanced planning, budgeting, contractor selection, design/layout, food and beverage, audio visual, staff assignments and other meeting needs.
  • Manage the on-site execution of larger events, which includes interfacing with venue staff, managing NGCOA staff duties and tasks, ensuring sessions and meals are in order, etc. Some smaller meetings may not require on-site execution by this position.
  • Interface with NGCOA’s staff team, including operations, education, marketing, membership, corporate partnership and finance staff to ensure smooth planning, coordination and execution of the events.
  • Lead all team meetings related to event planning, to ensure excellent management of the details and communication of responsibilities, progress, problems and solutions.
  • Reconcile all invoices, payables and other post-event needs.
  • Conduct site selection as needed for NGCOA’s smaller meetings (the primary meeting locations and dates have been set for the next three years)
  • Other duties as assigned

Success in this job is measured by satisfaction results from our members and sponsors, sticking to budget limitations and working well with all people needed to make the events work.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of meeting planning and management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, event planning certifications a plus
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills
  • Strong project management and vendor management skills
  • Proficient in Google Workspace - Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and other Google apps
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
