The NGCOA has released its latest publication, Building a Simulator Business at Your Course, sponsored by aboutGOLF, and written by Golf Business Contributor David Gould. This guide explores various aspects of the golf simulator landscape from consideration to concept to customer. A National Golf Foundation report released in late 2023 found that the number of Americans playing simulator golf has grown by 73 percent since 2019, and approximately 6.2 million Americans hit golf balls with a club in a golf simulator within the prior year. They reported that in 2019 and earlier, simulator participation hovered just under 4 million.

Within its seven chapters, this white paper explores the current state of the simulator market, financial and structural planning for your simulator, how to market your new technology to current and future customers, simulator fads and trends, best practices for implementation, and helpful testimonials from golf course owners who have already installed simulators at their facilities. “Course operators have made many a wise comment over the years about being in competition with the full array of recreational options and activities, not just other golf courses," writes Gould. "But installing golf simulators puts a fascinating twist on that truism — the golf course ends up with a piece of recreational equipment also found in ‘competing’ venues like sim-pubs and arcades.
