The use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or drones continues rapid growth for recreation and business applications. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is projecting there will be 7 million drones flying over U.S. skies by 2020.How will this growth affect the golf industry? What are the concerns operators should be aware of? The new legislation passed by Congress as part of the 2018 FAA funding bill includes new oversight and control over the drone industry. Golf operators are beginning to realize the many benefits from using drones in their business strategy. This article provides some insight into how the use of drones can change how we manage some of the labor-intensive tasks while improving the environment entrusted to us.
