As I write this article, your NGCOA membership team is (literally) packing in preparation to head west for the 2023 Multi-Course & Resort Operators Retreat (MCOR), being held (again) this year in beautiful Monterey, California. The two-day event will be held at The Monterey Plaza Hotel, with the Yamaha Golf Outing at Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel and a Pepsi Closing Reception at The Hay short course at Pebble Beach Resort. The agenda has been curated carefully by this year’s co-chairs, Jim Hinckley of Century Golf Partners and David Pillsubury of Invited, along with NGCOA staff including Taylor Wall, our Senior Director of Education, and, of course, our fearless leader and CEO, Jay Karen. This retreat is by invitation to our members and industry leaders who own/operate (six) or more courses. The conversations certainly will be lively and relevant to the business of multi-course and resort operators. The NGCOA looks forward to playing host to this unique community within our NGCOA membership.

In addition to MCOR preparation, the membership team has been busy with processing member rebates. To date, we’ve recently distributed over $100K in rebates from Yamaha and Pepsi alone. That doesn’t even include the thousands of dollars from Rainbird and Toro that our members across the country have taken advantage of.  How much money have we sent you this year? If your answer is “none,” I encourage you to check out our NGCOA Smart Buy page and see which vendors you A) are already using but aren’t taking advantage of member perks or B) consider doing business with one of our partners. Additionally, if you have vendors that you appreciate, send us a note or broker an introduction with our corporate partnerships team so we can discuss with them the opportunity of becoming part of our NGCOA Community.

Our membership is vast and varied. We represent owners and operators of public, private, resort and municipal golf courses and practice facilities. In this issue, we’re delighted to introduce you to the team at Seven Canyons Golf Club in Sedona, Arizona. The ownership group and their General Manager/Director of Golf Dave Bisbee have been hard at work to create something special and memorable for their membership and we’re delighted to share their story with you in this issue.

If you’re reading this and you’ve not yet joined the NGCOA, I encourage you to contact me or a member of the NGCOA Board of Directors. Allow us to learn about your golf business and how we can support you through our advocacy, commercial programs and education offerings. The NGCOA remains the only trade association in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to golf course owners and operators. Our members include owners, operators and general managers of daily-fee, semi-private, private and resort courses of all sizes. While diverse in our makeup, we offer information and inspiration on how to operate golf facilities as efficiently and profitably as possible. Please email me at rcarter@ngcoa.org to arrange a time for a conversation about your golf business and how belonging to the NGCOA can improve your operation.
