National Golf Course Owners Association Selects David Feherty
as its 2019 Award of Merit Winner

Charleston, S.C. (November 27, 2018) - The National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) is pleased to announce David Feherty as the recipient of its annual Award of Merit. Feherty will accept the honor on February 7 at NGCOA’s Golf Business Conference 2019 at the Marriott Marquis and Marina in San Diego, CA.

The NGCOA Award of Merit is designated for long-term and significant contributions to the game of golf. Feherty has made a name for himself not only through his self-titled, Emmy-nominated Golf Channel talk show, but as one of the most irrepressible personalities calling golf over the past two decades. A native of Northern Ireland and a former professional golfer - who claimed 10 worldwide victories and a spot on the 1991 European Ryder Cup Team - Feherty is now a proud American citizen who has risen above great personal adversities to become an Emmy-nominated television host, New York Times best-selling author, and comedic relief for thousands of men and women in uniform. Read more about David Feherty.

“We are thrilled to present the 2019 Award of Merit to David Feherty” said Jay Karen, NGCOA CEO. “David’s history in the industry, and his impact on the interest in our sport is remarkable. An industry like golf needs multiple sources of fuel to keep it going strong, and fandom is a key ingredient. David’s ability to bridge golf and popular culture, and his levity and wit, have entertained millions of golfers and fans over the years. He joins great company, like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Darius Rucker, Arnold Palmer, Patty Berg and many others who have been recipients of the award over the decades.”

The Award of Merit and other NGCOA annual awards will be presented at the Celebration and Awards Dinner on Thursday, February 7, the final event of Golf Business Conference 2019. Golf Business Conference is the industry’s largest annual gathering of golf course owners and operators, and is hosted by the NGCOA. The event coincides with the annual Golf Industry Show, which includes golf industry supplier exhibits and demonstrations. Visit www.golfbusinessconference.com for more information about the event.
