CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 15, 2012) – Four gifted students pursuing degrees in golf-related fields were selected as the 2012 winners of the National Golf Course Owners Association’s Don Rossi Golf Scholarship. The scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $2,000 for a grand total of $6,500, have been awarded to:
Zachary Brem, University of Colorado
Philip Conrad, University of Idaho
David Benjamin, Florida Gulf Coast University
Colin Ronayne, University of Wisconsin-Stout
“The NGCOA is proud to recognize the efforts and academic accomplishments of the 2012 Don Rossi Golf Scholarship recipients. These bright, young minds are the future of the golf industry and we are thrilled to see them excelling at their respective universities,” says NGCOA CEO, Mike Hughes. “We wish them continued success.”
The Don Rossi Golf Scholarship was established in 1992 to provide support to promising juniors and seniors majoring in sports administration, golf enterprise management, sport management or a similar field, and who plan to pursue a career in a golf-related field. Since the program began awarding scholarship funds in 1999, nearly $50,000 has been given to deserving candidates.
In addition to helping establish the NGCOA, Don Rossi served as president of the National Golf Foundation and was executive director of the Golf Course Builders Association of America.
