Barney Adams
Founder, Adams Golf
Barney AdamsThe Power of “FUN”

Barney Adams’ entrance into the golf equipment business was based on passion. He says,” When I started on my own in 1987 I didn’t have a dime I just wanted to be in the business.”

What followed were long days as a custom fitter, afternoons and evenings at The Haney Golf Ranch; orders were carried into the small facility housing Adams Golf and were hand assembled by Barney and a skeleton crew. The goal was always trying to enhance enjoyment for golfers by designing clubs easier to hit. One called the Tight Lies became a sensation fueling sales growth to a point where Wall Street took the company public in 1998.

Now retired from the operations of the company Barney still has a passion for bringing more enjoyment to the game. He wrote about how golfers should play from tees that would make shots to the green equivalent to tour players. The story became the premise of Tee IT Forward, a national program endorsed by the USGA and PGA of America for which he is a volunteer spokesman. Quotes Barney,”I still have a passion for introducing enjoyment into the game, this program is the perfect vehicle.”
